I'd say you have a solid 180. That's huge for a V8....... I know how you must feel(but not for long......)

Keep it up, maybe one day they will figure out how to make these damn things go faster than trucks..

Sorry, I got beat by a truck the other day and I feel horrible. But then again, we were going 70 already. I could've taken him off the line.
Peace
Dave

probably a solid 190-200 if that open element is non drop base. I think I have a solid 180-190HP. I out ran a 4.3L S-10 and a 3.4DOHC toyota v6 with gears. Those trucks both have at least 180HP and at most 195HP stock.

Whoa, 200hp? I doubt it. Guys, I have been saying this all over the boards. Spend the money on the exaust, transmission and gears but for god sakes, don't do any internal expensive mods on these 305's. It is just a waste of money. Do stuff that is interchangable to a 350 for the future.

its not just about beating them from a start. Torque, traction, and gearing have to be condisered in that case. If you are side by side and can pull away with the RPMs howling then you have more HP.

if you want to know how much horspower you have, go to a shop with a dyno. you could guess all day. keep in mind, horsepower #s in different cars run and feel very different. i rode in a 300hp vette that felt kinda slow. when i went to look at a GMC SYCLONE (i bought it), it felt like the fastest car i have ever sat in, and it only has 280hp...........well used to have 280 : )

I'm sure the syclone and other GM turbos have more thatn 300Hp but they aren't allowed to be rated more than the vette.

Tas you are correct. That is what led to the demise of the GNX. It didn't have nore HP but since it was faster than the vette by a few ticks they dropped it.

Nobody makes HP, guys. You make torque. Torque at rpm's calculates to hp. Make more torque in your race rpm range and hook-up your tires and you will win.
