If I can get a Cadillac Northstar engine complete for like $1500 should I? I heard my aunts STS last night and it sounded like it would be a pimp engine to have loud a-ss exaust on. Has anyone heard of this being done in a 3rdgen with all the emissions stuff on? 4.6L 300hp stock. hmmm...

do u really think it would be worht 1500 for a motor that would sound good with an exahaust? BTW it wouldnt be easy to find mod parts for a northstar. not to many people nod brand new caddies to run the 1/4

I think the Northstar is a different bellhousing and engine mount pattern then the *normal* GM.
If you have the talent to get that PCM right, then it sounds like a nice conversion.
That PCM expects to control the tranny, not big issues, but not a plug and play by any means.
If that 1500 doesn't include the PCM, and full harness, you have alot of work ahead of you.

$1500 should include electronics. The tranny to run it would need to be from a 60* chevy engine. Like a 3.4, 3.1 or 2.8 v6.

one of my friends is a mechanic at a caddy dealership, according to him and everyone else who works there the northstars are junk, always having recalls....hes seen them with 50000 miles come in with bad rings, bad valve seals, and there was some kind of recall on the cams. Buy an lt1 ive seen them on ebay going for as low as 1500$ www.ebaymotors.com

mechanics are bias when it comes to stuff like that. they only see the cases that go bad.
the mechanics at my shop, they hate all cars. especially newer ones, because they are electronics guys and the new cars are amazingly complex now, more so than two years ago. All low voltage wires going thru relay boxes. Ignitions are just there for looks now.

anyway, i did see a couple guys put northstars in fieros, and they hauled *** . i think one was supercharged and the other had nos.
if you got the cash. make it happen. anything goes if you got the money
