TBI Power

Just spent about 3 hrs digging through my "filing" (horribly dis-organized)to find one of my old dyno sheets from this summer and scanned it for a couple of other threads and thought I would share it. This engine was briefly in the 1994 G10 van, before putting the re-ringed TBI 305 back in with Vortec PCM run TPI.

Remember the worked over Dart 215s that I put onto my Goodwrench 350 for a brief period. I traded them for a NEW pair of Dart 180s and bought a production LT4 cam. I built a 10:1 355 out of a 4 bolt main Vortec 350(ZZ4 forged crank, Vortec PM rods, and Flattop Hyper pistons), Dart 180s, PRODUCTION LT4 cam, 2" bored edelbrock 3704, BBC TBI with 68# injectors at 30 PSI, 1 3/4" x 3" headers, 2 1/2" duals, X-pipe, 2 1/2" cats, 2 1/2" duals with flowmaster 40 series mufflers and custom prom tuning using the $0D PCM code. (To build the long-block, including the Darts, cost me just under $1.5K but that is not including the intake, exhaust, TBI, etc)

Here is what happened, I played with the transmission shift points to do a full 2nd gear pull from low speeds. Just under 300 RWHP through the exhaust. Better than 325 RWHP with open cut-outs. This engine IS going into a F-car, just need to find one.

Here is the link for the .BIN file I used.

That IS pretty damn good. Looks like an LT1 dyno.

Why would it not look like a LT1 dyno?

It has Darts that flow only slightly better than vortecs, a production LT4 cam, dual plane intake, somewhat restrictive exhaust, and mostly B-car LT1 based tuning in the PCM.

Driveability was awesome. I especially like the 4L60E shifting routines that I developed. Shifted like a soccor mom's mini-van at light throttle, but went very firm under WOT acceleration (WOT pressure mod vs. RPM). The shift points were great as well. The cruise control even worked well, switched to the 1993-1995 truck style. (For whatever reason GM decided to leave the crummy vacuum style on the 1993-1996 G-series, even though they had the same PCM as the trucks).
