I just datalogged my car after installing the weiand 7525 intake and I noticed that I am only getting 70% throttle during WOT. I was wondering if any of you guys who are running this intake had similar problems and what you did to fix it. Right now I am looking into getting an adjustable throttle bracket.

How did you modify your bracket? I had to really hack mine up. I would also check it, and make sure you have a full range of motion on your throttle, and have someon use the pedal, and make sure you get a full range of motion. It could be your TPS sensor is not correct. I would want to look at it and make sure the throttle blades are in fact opening.

summit sells an adjustable bracket. be careful if you run auto trans.

Thanks for the quick replies. I had my mechanic install the intake along with a cam and posi, and I do not believe he moddified the bracket, I will get in contact with him to get some questions answered. I also noticed that the gas pedal feels further away from my foot then before. But I will check out and make sure that the throttle is in fact opening up all the way and I will keep you guys posted.

I can't image he installed a 7525, without modifing the bracket. There was no physicaly way to make the factory bracket fit. Unless you used some other carb throttle bracket. I think you probably shoud get under there, and look at what he did.

Hey Dewey, I just looked and he used the factory bracket and all 3 bolt holes matched up perfectly with the intake. The only thing I can think of is that the bracket is different on the Roadmaster and Caprices. When I look at my dad's 91' Chevy pickup his throttle bracket is different from mine.

How does the action look when you move the throttle? Does it open all the way?

can someone comment of the need to adjust the auto trans cable as well. i have a stick so never paid attention. this is important.

I just had a friend move the throttle for me, and it clearly does not open all the way, and after looking at the TV cable he has the adjuster set in all the way to the max and on the cable that hooks to thottle body he has a zip tie as a spacer to pull the cable out further.

Sounds like you are going to need to get creative, and figure out how to move the bracket, so that everything attaches properly.

I think your right Dewey, I'll get creative and figure out a way to get that bracket moved. Also I might try and talk to my mechanic and pick his brain about it. Thanks for the help

I had that intake (i think)...never did really "work out" forme so I put the stocker back on. You running an egr on that intake...if so which one?

Well I called my mechanic and he told me to bring it in and he would adjust it for me, and they put a stopper on the cable to eat up the slack. And now I have full throttle when I mash the gas

And no I am not running an EGR, after reading all the threads about this intake I said screw it and blocked it off since we do not have emissions testing here in South Dakota and deleted the EGR on the chip.

I know Dewey really likes his 7525 but is there another single plane intake out there (that is still available) that anybody would suggest over the 7525 for a TBI application, because I don't need the EGR capability.

Brian,

Any low-rise type should work. The problem you will find, is that with most of the single planes, you pick up some height, to the point tha it won't sit under our stock hoods, with a descent air cleaner. So long as you find one that fits, you should be fine with any of them. Just keep an eye on port size, and such, so it matches with your heads.

Thanks for the info. Hood clearance is not a problem it's for a truck.

Would anybody suggest an Edelbrock Torker II for a TBI application? The runners on the torker II look as if they might work well with a TBI. I say this because most other single planes, when imagining a TBI on top, appear to possibly give more fuel to the inner cylinders and starve the outter. In this aspect the 7525 looks to be kinda inbetween the Torker II and say a Victor Jr. Or am I totally off base here? I know most carb guys say the Torker II sucks and to get something like a Vic Jr. style.

I remember Grumpy stating that he tried quite a few intakes with TBI and the 7525 was at the top of his list. Had good steet manners and egr if needed and could be painted black for a stealth apearance for the smog ****'s if needed.

I found one new in the box for less than Summit was selling them for right after they stopped selling them. About the best score for me on Ebay but it's just gathering dust for now....


Plus I am running Vortec's now so it's kind of on the backburner anywho......
