GM 330hp 350 with a ht383 cam?

I own a 87 K5 blazer tbi and was planing on putting a GM 330hp 350 in it but was scaried that it wont have enough tq. to move the lifted truck. The guys at turbo city said I could put the cam from the ht383 in it to help bump up the tq. Will this work and any pros or cons? ( I already have a cfm-tech tbi unit, tbi spacer, fuel pressure regulator and I know that I will be needing larger injectors and a burned chip.) Is there anything else I need? Also I did search and no I dont want to build a engine from the ground up because its my daily driver and I dont have a lot of extra time on my hands. I am really trying to keep this simple and not go over board with the price.

The HT383 cam is a roller and will require all the roller cam specific components. $$$.

The HO 350 cam is not that radical and will move your truck fine. It makes 250 ft/lbs @ just 1,500 rpm and over 300 ft/lbs @ 2,000. It makes plenty of low-speed grunt.

JPrevost will hopefully chime in on how to feed this engine as he has a very similar one in his F-Body. I imagine the list would include 68# injectors running at 25+ PSI and lots of DIY Prom tuning just to make it driveable.

Exactly what is wrong with the cam that comes in the HO 350? I have more cam that that in my 305 and I still make plenty of low-speed grunt to pull my 5,500# van.

I was told by more than one person on the Ck5 website (for blazer and lifted trucks) that it could use more low end torque. The only difference was that they were using carbs. I use my blazer for rock crawling and you need low rpm torque to get over big opsticals and my blazer weighs in at over 6000lbs.

More low end-torque will help with rock crawling, but I would think that the torque from the HO 350, steep gears, and 4 wheel low would be more than enough to keep you moving. I'm not that extreme but my YJ with an inline 6, 35in swampers, stock gears, and low range can climb anything I've seen around here. The only justification, that I can see, for swapping the cam would be if you were crawling in high range, or if you wanna leave 4 black marks on the rocks

I already have good gears and really low transfer case gearing I was just looking for more. Ok so lets say I keep the 330hp 350 the same without putting in a different cam, What will I need to do and add to make this thing work with my setup? cfm-tech makes it sound like all I need to do is run larger injectors and get a custom chip also a vortech intake along with all the stuff I already have. Is this true or is there more that I need to do or add?
