in my book it says to take out the fuel pump fuse? ok well i defenitly dont have one!! how else can i let out the pressure so i can change fuel filters?

 

Do like I did, con a your buddy into conning HIS buddy into getting under there....tell him you "THINK" you've let out the pressure properly....then try not to laugh uncontrollably when you hear the slush of fuel spray out and a "HoLy CrAp!" coming from underneath your thirdgen....

 

The fuel pressure on our TBI systems is really only relieved through the removal of your gas cap. You should hear hissing everytime you remove it. You are right, there is no fuse as it says in the manuals. When I did my manifold swap and TBI rebuild, I just pulled the gas cap and let it sit for a few hours. When I removed the fuel lines from the TBI there was absolutely no pressure or fuel leakage.

 

Just take the cap off, it relieves pressure in the whole system. I've taken it off then pulled the fuel lines like 5 minutes later and just a few dribbles came out.

 

ok thank you...also if i leave the line off the fuel filter and crank the car(to get the fuel pump going) would that be a way i could test if the fuel pumps actually working..?(yes i kno it would spray fuel)

 

Get a friend of yours if you can't hear it yourself to put their head down by the rear of the car and put the key to the "ON" position (don't start it) and you should hear about 5 seconds of clicking from the fuel pump. If you hear it that means your fuel pump should be working...
