Just for those who want to see what the VAFPR set-up loo

I know a lot of people have questions about the GM vacuum adjustable fuel pressure regulator so I thought I would post this pic of my TBI while it is off my car for the cam swap. I thougth this would help a lot of people see what the heck it all looks like once it is all put together.

Notes:
- I have a hole drilled in my spacer ring to help guide the vaccum hose around the throttle bore.
- You can see the adavantage of a larger TBI would be here
because the hose almost impedes flow to much.
- I am using the vacuum delay valve from napa.
- I have the vaccum line hooked up to the lower port on my TBI where I unplugged the thermac device during my open air elemet install.

will this work? run the vafpr vac line upwards through the air cleaner cover with a grommet in it and then attach to the external vac source. I used the line that feeds the power brakes with a nipple in the L fitting. that way less restriction as it is verticle vs horizontal ??

Yea that should work fine. I geuss it doesn't matter how you route it as long as you have enough vaccum at your source. That is a really good idea. You may have clearance problems with your hood though because you won't be able to make a super sharp turn right away with the vacuum line if it sticks out to far.

i ran mine (crossfire) up, made a U turn and back down through the bottom of the air cleaner assembly. however i had a single air cleaner that was massive in size and had room between the two TB's. now that i think of it you may have a clearance problem unless you use a right angle T. but you are right it restricts the air flow and that is not the best.

why don't you run it out the back of the TB, and not right over the bores. the run it between the IAC and TPS on the pass side. that would seem to solve the whole issue, and keep it clean looking.

Yea I am going to try and re-route it a bit. The lines is very stiff and does not flex very well so I kinda left it where it was. But now that it is off I plan on moving it around a bit.

I cut the little outlet on the regulator so that it was just a straight piece, then I ran that out through a little hole drilled in my open element and into the same vacuum port as you did, works great! TDS Spring, 10 psi idle, 16 psi WOT (needs to come down a bit). I'll get pictures up soon.

Yea I have has this set-up for over 2 years now but just now showed a pic of it. I bought the springs from lon before he really had it forsale. he just had a bunch left over from his origonal test work to determine if they would work or not.

I bent the metal nipple outwards, drilled a hole and ran a vacuum line through the aircleaner to a vacant nipple on the throttle body. I sealed the tiny gap around the hose in the aircleaner with superglue...The only drawback is that the linkage will barely scrape the vacuum hose but its so minimal you do not feel it. Its ran on the same idea as Z28 Boy's web page.

IMO, i would not route it that way because it "seems" it would restrict the already small amount of air flowing into the TBI.

yea I am going to change it now that I have all these ideas. At the time is was one of the few people that had it and so I kinda just geussed. But I do need the added airflow since the new cam is going in

You could also use actual vacuum hose which is much smaller in diameter. It looks like you used fuel line.

No it is vaccuum line but it is rather beefy. I kinda went to the store with a geuss of what size I needed.
