CFI problem 700R4 problem
Recently rebuilt a CFI engine for my TA. Now the engine has a little over 20 miles on it and has developed a hot start/idle problem. No check engine light on all sensors adjusted to spects, timing set run great cold. Gets hot it tends to idle low and stall when at a stop pops back through the throttle bodies twice when trying to restart. Also will stall if you hit the brake(no vaccum leaks). Thinking est or esc is my guess. And my 700R4 will not shift into passing gear(rebuilt as well) ideas??????????

For the engine, check your fuel pressure. It sounds like the engine is lacking fuel when it is trying to start(backfire through the TB). Attach a fuel pressure guage, and observe it. you should be looking at 12-13 PSI. Spec is actually 9-13, but the car will run better toward teh upper end of that range, in my expirience. If you leave the FP guage on after the car has been shut off, verify that the fuel system holds pressure for at least an hour.
For the trans, adjust your TV cable.

Stock bracket?
Is the TV cable bracket stock?
I ran into an interesting situation last summer with a truck at work, wherein I learned something. The TV cable adjustment, pushing the botton, pushing the cable in, and flooring it, only works if the bracket is correct. Meaning the right one for the vehicle, not bent, etc.
We had installed a newly rebuild 700-R4 in a Blazer here at work. Pushed the button, pushed in the cable, and floored it. TV cable set. Ran the truck for about a week and it seemed to run great, until it suddenly wouldn't move; it had smoked all the forward clutch packs. The guy that rebuilt the trans did it again, then explained to me how to adjust the TV cable using a hydraulic pressure gauge and monitoring main line presure. There is a fitting on the side of the trans that has a pipe thread plug in it. I *think* it's on the drivers side, and it's toward the front -I'd have to look again since it's been awhile. Install a presure gauge there, and at idle it should be around 75 PSI. Now here is the crucial part. The INSTANT you move the throttle, the presure should jump to 150 psi or better. There should be no hesitation in this happening, relative to the throttle moving. That is the BEST way to set the TV cable, from what I have learned so far.
As it tunred out, our bracket had been bent, and the line presure wasn't rising until about 1/4 throttle. By that time the clutches were slipping and didn't stand a chance. If the TV/line presure is good, then I don't know what could be wrong. I'm not auto trans expert, that's for sure.
