If you guys have any questions on making it hit me up with a P.M. or an email. I made mine and it works perfectly.

I'm on my third cable as well, but this time I KNOW that the cable is right and that I didn't fry any of the components while soldering, but I still can't get data out of my car nor my brother's firebird, so the problem must be somewhere else. I'm gonna test out the serial port on my laptop tonight to see if that is it. I know I'm getting +12 volts to the ecm because I'm using a hot wire and not the DTR pin for the 12 volts.
Make sure you have heatsink pliers between your soldering and the transistors/resistors when you are patching it together, else you'll probably fry them unless you are really quick about it. That was one of my many mistakes. Flux. I can't stress how important it is to flux before you solder if you want it to stick. I prefer to use the paste (like plumbers use). Oatey No.95 Lead Free Tinning Flux has allways worked best for me. You can find it in the plumbing stuff at Wal*Mart.

Later,
Harry

Try it without R3...... and for a TBI car you don't need R4

Make sure you have the right pins for the transisitor, not all of them have the same pinouts
Use WinALDL, most other apps won't work with that interface
