Performer RPM manifold vs Holley Pro-Jection Manifold

I'm wondering which of these intakes would be a better choice for power in a mildly modified TBI 5.7L engine:

An Edelbrock Performer RPM with a TB adaptor plate, or the Holley Pro-Jection Manifold. Both are high rise/dual plane design with similar power band. The Holley has EGR provision, not sure about the Perf RPM.

I think I'd rather go with one of these than the Performer TBI with its smaller plenums and runners. Any thoughts, comments, or ideas?

thanks, jason g

Is this a "taboo" topic - already beat to death in the past? Just curious. I tried searching the archive but never found much, other than a few folks using both Edelbrock Performer RPM and Perfomer carb intakes with TBI adapter plates. Now I've been lookin' at Weiand Stealth, action+, and another Holley carb intake, plus a few from GMPP like the ZZ4 intake. Anyone have any thoughts?

I just don't like the idea of being "locked" to one TBI manifold choice...ie, the Edelbrock Performer TBI.

take care,

jason G

an intersting note to add to this.

have you considered going to a single plane?

https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...highlight=4bbl

quote from DanW

Single planes should not be considered taboo with TBI even on a 305. They get a bad rap because of the fuel metering problems they create with carbs due to weak vac signals causing poor part throttle and low rpm performance. These problems disappear with TBI where the lower limit of your operating range will be due to your cam and have very little to do with the intake.
i bought the intake he is talking about, and it is a very nice unit, and has EGR provisions....

i don't have dynos or track times yet, becuase i haven't gotten it all installed.

I used the holley pro-jection intake on the 305 and added 1.6 rockers at the same time. It was a very nice gain, didn't cost any noticable low end torque, but really helped pull at higher rpms. I was really impressed. The only thing I didn't like was the need for a spacer to get the egr to fit.....so needless to say I used a block off plate.
