plug wire routing?

I put in headers a few weeks back and i dont like how the wires are run. they are all real close to the headers and a few touchin them on the right side which isnt good. What are some good wire looms and what have you guys used? I found one i liked at summit but not sure if it will work with the a.i.r. tubes since they are real close to the valve covers, anybody have a good suggestion to what would work!I have moroso blue max 8.8mm wires and edelbrock tpi headers. Here is the link to summit http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...nter+bolt+loom its part number RNM-1120P also any pics would be great thanks a lot guys!

I plan on getting the made for you centerbolt looms that go over the valve cover. Nice clean look and do great at keeping the wires from burning.

Are you using shorty plugs? I plan on running my wires under the headers as in the stock location.

did you have to go over the a.i.r. tubes or didnt have the room between the valve cover?

on the drivers side they go right over the AIR tubes.
the passenger side is alittle trickier, i routed wires 2, 4, and 6 to the front of the engine (towards and next to the AC delete pulley), then up and along the valve covers. This keep them the greatest distance from the headers (Edelbrocks). The only wire i am unhappy with is number 8, it is the closest one to the headers (goes right between 2 primaries) and is starting to harden from the heat. You might want to use a few zip ties along with the wire looms just to make sure the wires stay exactly where u want them.

where did you get that plug from on your air hookup on your headers? i had to use a piece of rubber heater hose and a bolt to stuff in the hose to stuff it temporarily and i hate the way it looks....it looks ghetto rigged but i havent found something better, yours kinda looks like a pipe cap is that corect?

Get the Made 4 U looms....

I use 'em with my 90 degree Taylor 8mm wires and Hedman headers, and I use STOCK length AC Delco plugs and I have NO problems. No burning of wires, no touching etc. And my headers aren't even coated. I've put about 10k miles on 'em with NO issues.

Yeah, regular old pipe caps from the Home Depot or Lowe's plugged the air inlets on my 2055s just fine.

Hey, to put on those made for you looms, do you have to unbolt the valve covers or what? What is the procedure for installing those? -89IRO

looks like you only have to unbolt them 1 at a time put the loom on then replace the bolt.

Well you don't have to remove them, but I don't know if only loosening one at a time is the answer either. If you only take one out at a time I would think that you might warp the valve cover. Of coarse, if you are taking the valve covers off like I did, it wont matter. I would loosen them all little by little until they are all loose, but not out completely. Then replace them one at a time and then torque them back down to spec (again, make sure to rotate so you don't warp the cover). Chilton's says 8ft/lbs and Haynes says 12ft/lbs, but most torque wrenches aren't that easy to read/setup, so I just put mine at 10 ft/lbs. A good easy to read number on the ol' torque wrench.

Later,
Harry

Oh and BTW. You can install these either pointing up or down the top of the valve cover depending on how you are routing your wires, your breather, PCV, oil cap, and etc. So you will have to play around with the routing a little to figure out what works best. Did I mention that the BEST thing about these is that they are made of zextel nylon which doesn't conduct electricity like billet aluminum wire looms

Well...did they work? I too have the edelbrock headers and the AIR tubes don't look like they will let a wire past them!!

You can get 'em from Summit. Mine were $40-something I think, but well worth it.

I cheated on my old Turd and removed the AIR from the Edelbrock headers.
