Valvesprings for L05 w/ LT1 cam

I have a 96 Z28 cam waiting to go into my L05 (hopefully within a month or two) and I was wondering what valve springs would be good to run with this cam. I would be looking for something around what a Z28 would have had stock, except that fit my L05 heads. I don't want to over-spring the valves (HP loss) but my 167k L05 springs probably won't do the job past 5000rpm.

Any ideas?

Well...don't count on making any decent power past 5000 rpm with those heads. I've been there...

Check out the link...

I'm using the VSA 1 kit for with my Ram Jet cam. $30 for new GM springs/retainers/keepers...not too bad. You might want to go one step up if you plan on revving higher. I don't plan on going past 4800 rpm.

Thanks for the link. I think I'd want to go with the VSA 3s. Do you know what the seat diameter is for my VIN 7 L05? Is it 1.25"?

Kevin,

I checked the stockers in the basement and they are, indeed, 1.25 diameter.

I have the printed version of the Competition Products catalog. The VSA 3 kit contains spring of the following specs:

#98214
Single spring w/damper
1.250" diameter
Seat pressure: 115# @1.700"
Open pressure: 300# @1.250"
Coil bind @ 1.160"
