NEW 350 knock sensor and ??? sensor.
Well I just got my two sensors in the mail for my 350 TBI setup. Does anyone know what this sensor does? I am sorry for the blurry pictures, cheap camera. I am not even sure where the thing goes yet .

I think it's the ECS module, but don't quote me. Your knock sensor will be a screw in deal

Dude I just went to the part's store today and bought a new esc and knock sensor. the part that you have the pic of is the esc. it goes on the driver side up against the firewall. it is behind your fan and fuelpump relays not hard to change at all. but be carefull with the knock sensor. you will need a 21-23 mm socket to get it out, dont know witch one for sure If you need any more info on this just pm me and i will be glad to help.

Thanks I appreciate that. Do any of you know what the ecs sensor does? Could you tell a difference on how the car acted at all? Thanks. I got both of these from GM parts direct and spent $71.59 on the parts.

If the ESC module detects what it considers knock it will then signal the ECM. The ECM responds by reducing the SA.
In my experience the ESC module is more important then the sensor. It is not a simple device.

P.S. Torque spec for sensor is 11-14 ft/lbs. Don't over tighten it!

Thank you it sounds like you have done your home work on this. I had no idea the knock sensor had a torque value. Thanks again.

Hey guys
Yeah, its been a while, this summer was awesome thanks largely in part to the ole' camaro. My TBI setup has definitely come a long way, but i'm still getting one little glitch.
When i really pound on her she throws an ESC (electronic spark) code. Now, i never replaced the spark module when i swapped in my 350, though i did the knock sensor, so is it maybe reading my 350 like a 305 and thinking its running into detonation and thus throwing my timing back causing the car to feel like its hesitating? Whaddya guys have to say, you've never failed me before.
Thanks
Ty
Here's the current setup...she's evolving...lol
1988 RS Camaro
TBI 355 (powdered rods, forged pistons, balanced, blueprinted, crane-compu cam, ported/polished heads)
WC T-5
3.73 Posi
Edlebrock Strut Tower Brace
Wonder Bar
Eibach Springs
KYB Struts
Accel ignition/coil
3-row radiator
180' thermostat
custom e-prom
ect. ect. ect.
Shiny bright orange paint w/white stripes soon...

That is me too. No room. I am thinking I am going to have to take out the starter or something. This is so irritating.

Re: NEW 350 knock sensor and ??? sensor.
A bad ESC system can cause driveability issues. If there is a lot of false knock being reported the ECM will be retarding the timing.
At idle knock counts are ignored. However, this is at an idle RPM. If the idle RPM is a tad high then knock counts will cause spark retard.
Best bet is to use a scan tool and see what the Knock/PA3 counts are.
