Holley 300-66 Manifold Install

I just got this in the mail from jegs, and I have a few questions. Sorry, I'm still a newbie. I also bought a JET fuel pressure regulator and Mr.Gasket Ultra Seal II Intake gaskets.

I open the box and its labeled 300-66 on the outside, but the plate where you mount the TBI, it says 701R-66 Is that supposed to be there? Because the manifold looks SIGNIFICANTLY taller than the stock. Was the EGR round solenoid moved on the holley as opposed to the stock? No hole for that thing to go into on the back of the square chamber like on the stock manifold.

Since this thing is so tall (if I got the right one), why am I supposed to use a TBI spacer? I have a 14" open air from Mr.Gasket and I don't know if its dropbase or not? All I know is that I had to buy a 14x2 K&N as opposed to a x3 because it would not clear the stock hood.

How hard is this going to be for me? All I've done to my car is remove the smog pump, Catalytic converter (got high flow), change the thermostat, chip and Open air. I also have changed plugs, O2 sensor, oil and flushed the radiator. Do you think with that experience this is going to be a big pain for me to do... or pay my mechanic 100+ bucks to install this(not actual figure, but I'm estimating 100 bucks to replace manifold).

Thanks for any help!

Yes, it is the correct manifold and it does have a much larger plenum. The TBI spacer is so the TBI will clear the EGR valve, because it is in a different position. As far as the aircleaner goes, I'm using a non-drop w/ 2" filter. I could maybe go with a 2 1/2" but there would be no clearance what so ever. I don't have EGR either, so I have no spacer.

ahh ok! Explains the TBI spacer. I'll have to wait till my 1" spacer comes in from CFM-Tech.

Where the driveshaft connects into the rear-end started leaking... yea! not.. So I gotta take it to a shop to get that fixed... make the time pass till the spacer comes at least.

Also, you're going to have to modify your throttle cable bracket, and I highly recommend braided fuel line. Your heat source is at the front of the new manifold as well.

It's really not that bad-you can do it yourself. It's just a matter of fabbing a few things. But in the end you will feel a sense of accomplishment and a thicker wallet.

Wait.. The manifold came with a box of bolts. In it with a brass plate that looked like the one on my car already. Maybe this is it?

Also, when I disconnect the throttle cables, will that thing snap off and go flying because a cable isn't holding it tight?

Since this thing will sit up significantly higher, the throttle cable that you say will need to be modified? Which one, there are thre cables on mine. You mean the one with the oblong brass thing that if you slide it to the back it will pull off?

If you can do without crusie, just take your stock bracket and file down the little edge on the inside of the cruise square and the throttle cable will fit in it fine. My friend greg is running the holley throttle bracket with the pro-jection manifold, which is probably what they gave you in the box, but it doesnt have a cruise provision either. Dont worry about the cables, when you disconnect them they'll just hang there.

The fuel lines are a pisser though, Im running the stock hard lines but I'd love to have some braided ones. I just put the stockers in a vice and straightened them out and they fit OK, but its hard hooking up the tbi when I have to reconnect the fuel lines.

Maybe discount auto would sell like a 1inch extension or something? I sure as hell don't wanna replace the fuel lines with braided ones.. Seems like an extra pain in the ***, i'd rather try and get the stock ones to fit.

I got the stock fuel lines to fit-but it was hard and remember I don't have the spacer. It is definetely worth it to get the braided fuel lines-and it really isn't that hard. you don't have to replace it all-just from the rubber section towards the front of the engine. As far as the throttle bracket goes, I think you can actually get away with simply bending the metal 180 degrees where the bolts go-which in turn will move the whole assembly foward about an inch.

will the local yocal shops sell the fuel lines or do I have to go to GM?

As far is trying that bracket to work, i'm sure a friend and I can find a way to rig it up. My TB has three cables, one with an oblong brass thing on it (assuming gas pedal), one directly below it with a black connector, and then there is a black, completely covered cable that is held on to the same screw as the oblong brass thing. Sorry for the 5 year old talk, but I don't have a digital camera to snap a picture and draw arrows to it.

-by the way, my cruise stopped working ever since I was forced to run over a big piece of tire on I-75 at 80mph. That was the only adverse affect on my car during that incident, luckily no body damage. If I set my cruise, I have to tap the pedal after I set it, then it will catch and slowly lose speed over 30 seconds and I just tap the pedal again and it catches it, very annoying. I just don't use it anylonger... So I've delt without it for about six months.
