need help on head and cam combo

need help on head and cam combo

I am doing a 350 swap on an 88 tbi 305.I am going to use a holley tbi unit or a turbo city unit,holley pro-jection intake for the 2' bores but i can not pick a good head. Mabey the sportmen 200cc or sr heads or vortec. the 350 has 10.5.1 comp. with 64cc so i can use the 72cc sportmens and drop about 1 point.but what cam? i am having a chip made for it so i can use any combo. SO if anyine can give me so info i would appreciate it.

What do you intend to do with the car?

Drag race a lot and daily drive very little?

How much horsepower are you wanting to make? Does it have to pass any smog tests?

What gear ratio are you running in the rear plays a lot in how much cam you can run?

What have you done so far to the exhaust?

What year 350 are you using? Do you intend to stay roller cam or go flat tappet?

i plan to use the car on weekends some nice days.
the cars has tpi edelbrock headers 3'y pipe and 3' exhaust.
345 rear gear eaton posi unit 700r4 tans with 2300 stall.
and i am in md so it needs to pass smog test.
i would be happy to run low 13s high 12s. the motor is 91 350 truck block with no boss on top of cam to run rollor so i have to run flat tappet the 305 i have no has comp cam 2030 cam edelbrock tbi intake,14-3 open air cleaner and ported tbi unit stock heads. thanks

AFR 180 or 190 heads are always an excellent choice but are quite pricey at $1250.

The world class torquer 2 or Vortec heads would be a good choice and for a flat tappet cam I would recommend the Comp Cams XE268H-14 part no 12-268-4
specs 224/230 @ .050" lift and .479"/.480" lift with a 114 degree lobe separation. Power band of 1800-5800 rpm.

That would be a good TBI friendly cam and provide decent power.
