I blew up my 305 and want to go to a 350 But I am strapped for money, what do I need to retain my TBI unit?

all you need is the 350. every thign bolts on the same way. all you will want to do extra is find a set of 350 injectors from a full size car or truck.
305's and 350's all mount everything exactly the same, no special parts are needed.

how far can I push the 350 before I run into problems with not getting enough fuel? since I am changing engines I want to get something pretty decent without spending tons of money. So I was going to try and build a decent 350 as long at the TBI would keep up thanks

You'll need the 350 knock sensor, esc module and injectors.
Injectors:AC/Delco #17112493
Knock Sensor: AC/Delco # 10456288
ESC Module: AC/Delco # 16128261
If you're running a bigger than stock cam, it'd be good to get (or make) an adjustable fuel pressure regulator for fine-tuning.
A custom chip will be required if you want to make real power.
I'm using the Crane Compucam 2030 hydraulic roller and am making over 300hp at the flywheel.

what is the esc module? I realize it is part of the computer system but where is it and what does it do. I am thinking of putting the holley TBI unit on it for a 350 to give me some more power so that would eliminate the injectors and the knock sensor is no big deal I just need to know about the esc and I am good to go. I am getting the Engine from Component Machine in Indianapolis, IN I am not sure what is in the engine yet, but I will find out. my dad owns a marina and gets rebuilds from them pretty cheap. thanks guys

ESC module is the unit that the knock sensor talks to.
It's a flat plastic box with a 4 or 5 pin connector on it.
It's located on the bracket that holds the fan and fuel pump relays,on the firewall, between the fender and master cylinder on the driver's side of the engine compartment.

I'm not sure about the chip.
I needed a custom chip on mine because it's a manual trans.
If you have an automatic, I've head a Caprice chip will work, but it'll have stock timing and fuel curves.
The custom chip is really worthwhile, but expensive.
Mine is from Ed Wright at Fastchip.com
His customs are $350.
Mine now has no top speed fuel shutoff and pretty aggressive timing, but like your thermomaster, requires a 160 degree stat.
Since you're on a tight budget, you might check with the guys on the prom-burning board for an inexpensive solution.
It'll probably run on the other chip, but not at it's best.
