TBI limitations on a modded 305
I'm wondering how much HP can the stock/modified TBI/injectors/pump can handle? I had about 260-270 hp(97mph on a 3600lb car) in my 305 TPI. I would like a little more w/ PROM tunning in my TBI car, using the same exhaust(edelbrock, 3" cat, 3" hooker), cam (214/220 ~.5" lift w/ 1.6 RR), and "89 TPI heads that will be ported/valve job(not yet done). I also planned on a different intake manifold(probably a carb w/ adapter).
Can the stock T/B/(or ported?) support 300 hp?
Can the stock TBI 305 inj. support 300 hp w/ higher fuel pressure?
Can the stock fuel pump handle 300 hp?
I figured the TPI could make 300 hp in a 305(not that I did though). Can the TBI do it? I haven't seen any promissing times on here. My 305 TPI ran 14.3 @97 mph w/o tuning on stock heads.(elevated track Lebanon Valley,NY)
I would like t o run 14 flat/high 13s in my TBI with tuning and mildly worked 305 TPI heads(MyTPI engine spun a bearing, hench all the donor parts while i build a ati DS1-SC 350/383 for that car)
The car this is in has 3.73 gears, posi, 5 speed, 3500lb race weight, 101,xxx miles

tbi can do 300hp on a 305. it takes a cam, heads, and soem careful tuning to get it all though.
a stock fuel pump coudl handle it, but i would recomend getting a walbro to make sure it stays fed correctly.
the heads don't need to be anything very special, just a set of stockers or L98's with soem mild porting will do it, an LT1 cam, edelbrock or holley intake, a full exhaust, and a custom burned chip.
that shoudl be plenty to get a 3600lbs car to run over 100mph.

Why doesn't it seem like anyone else have had good results then? Are there any examples of N/A TBI cars on here running the times I'd like to see?

I am in the same boat. I thought that my car was fast and all I have to do is add heads cam and gears. Yes those are big things to make these cars fast but that is still money you could put in a 350. Anyways, I thought my car was fast until i rode in my roomates new 335hp SS and drove a BONE STOCK 95 LT1. Those cars seem like they have no end to the meaning of power and make my 305 feel like a go cart. I think it is funny when I have to shift my car at 4800 rpm and LS1's and LT1's shift at like 6200 like its no big deal. I am so tempted to sell the RS and get the lack of power over with.

Everything within the engine is stock, everything around it has had improvements here and there... times and dyno results in sig... et's are not a reflection of power, but my mph is ... I'm not making any more than the next tbi owner, I'm just making good use of mine and those latest are off a hot humid day... wonder how cold dry night runs would be... low 15s?
Dyno numbers are pre injector spacer, wires, cap, rotor, coil...
Track numbers are after all that...
