Winaldl cable for Mac USB?
I was wondering.....
I just downloaded the Winaldl program as I'd like to see what the engine is doing by reading the codes....
I downloaded it to a PC laptop but I also have a Macintosh and would like to use that instead. I do have a program--Virtual PC that let's me run Window's programs. However, I have USB connections....Can a custom cable be made so that I can use me Mac......
Any help greatly appreciated y'all....CTOWN....

the port on the left is the right port, its a serial port and u hook up the cable that u make right there. it sould work other than the fact thats its a mac and the program is made for windows i belive. Hope that program is compatible with that software. if it does not work at first u might have to change something in the bios and turn it on some of the computers have a option in there to turn on and off. good luck

there is a adapter out there thats prolly going to run you about 35-45 bucks that converts usb to serial port. the bios is just a place were you set up your computer and what you want it to do. Usally it asks you on start up to push the del button to go in there but you can really screw things up if you do not know what you are doing.

I was ticked to find out that my new laptop didn't have a serial port. 4 USB but no serial. They aren't used much any more I guess. As soon as I figure out where to buy USB connectors and such, I will attempt making a direct USB cable for use with WinALDL.

bios is like a mini os that is directly on the motherboard. mainly what you will ever see it being used for is when you install a new os or hardware. its what controls plug and play. again, its like a tiny little memory bank on the mother board itself, that allows you to boot the computer. think, if your windows os had to do all the hardware booting etc.. how would you ever install it windows?

I had posted a similar question ages ago, as my laptop does not have a Serial port, only 2 USB's. To my knowledge no one has got WinALDL to work w/ an USB -> RS232 adapter.
