The gauge on my car reads at 220 when warm. So why is my car pulling the code 15. and why is it pulling a code23, i know what they are but how do i fix it?

If I was u, I would replace ur Coolant temperture sensor. That might be the problem. Its reading off because its not working right. They sometimes go bad. Are u running rich or lean? When they do go bad, they usually tell the computer to dump to much fuel or not enough fuel into the car. Run ur car until it is at operating temp. and then pull one of ur plugs and tell us the color. If its white, ur lean, if its dark ur rich. It should be a tan color if its perfect.

There are 3 differnt coolant temp sensors/senders in your car.

There is one in the drivers side head between cylender #1 and #3. That is for your guage, hence why it is reading correctly.

There is one just to the left of the thermostart. It has a yellow and black wire running to it. This is the one that the ECM reads for it's temps. THis is the one that is screwed up. This is the one that you should replace

Then third one is in th passenger side head between cylender #6 and #8. That is your fan switch. Its what controls the fans(s) from coming on and off.

The IAT sensor is prolly old and corred it. Just replace it with a new sensor or a 4.7k ohm resistor. What that will do is make the car think it has 55* incoming air at all times.

The spark plug is black so it is rich. Plus my fan never comes on unless i turn my air on,what is up with that? Is it the fan relay. Oh and what about the iat, what will putting a 4.7k ohm resistor do? How will it efect the moter. And what does the 55* mean? sorry about the trouble but im getting pretty mad at my car i paid a lot of money for this moter and all i want to do is beat some munstangs. cause everybody in my town just thinks mustangs are the **** and that they cant be beat. Well im going to so them what a chevy was made to do. and what is that, (BLOWING THIER DOORS OFF) :hail: :hail:

Usually the fan will only kick on when the engine temp reaches 255 degrees. BTW: 55* means 55 degrees. Anyways, I would deffiently replace ur Coolant temperture sensor then if that is the case. If u want to have ur fan running at an early temperture, u can make a fan switch were u can turn it on and off as u please.

there is the tech article on how to do it. Pretty easy, but u know what I do. I just flip my a/c on when I think my car is running to hot. makes a good fan switch.

Nevermind, I just went out and bought one for 8 bucks and I am gonna install it here in a second when my engine cools down. Looks like an easy install.
