Open air rules
I just put my open air element on this afternoon and it definitely makes a difference.
However, now I think that I am going to have to replace the spark plugs and wires and distributor cap and rotar. I will defintely know in a week or so.

i havn't yet gotten the open element but i needed a new filter so I bought a slightly larger one (for the 305 TBI trucks) and flipped my breather lid upside down so now there is a big gap there... and when i get down on it, it sounds bad @$$, i can only imagine with a full open element

OPEN AIR CLEANERS
hey guys
Has anyone took their car to the track and run it with the stock breather on it with a k/n and then a open air cleaner with a k/n
to really see if there is a diffrence in power. The reason i ask this is cause i don't see any gains, except for the load *** noise it makes . what i'm getting @ is that when the hood is closed and it's hot under the hood Hot-air don't make power. why do you think nascar pulls air from the cowl area! i put a k/n on my car and itt helped alot. but if you can still pull in as much air with the stock breather verses the open-air all your gaining is heat and sound. Heat kills HP why do you think it runs better when it's cool out
i would like to see it in #'s not by the good ole butt dyno!

well actually the heat does hinder performance, that is true but the open air takes in a hell of alot more air than the stock breather. this more than makes up for the heat and if you want cooler air get ahold of one of the coweld hoods.

My car hisses VERY loud with the k&n open element on there. Got louder with the new intake to ,Im assuming it sucking even more air. When I first got my car my dad drove it from time to time. Then i installed the open element and he didnt know i had did it and came back and said "What did you do to your car it feels ALOT faster"
