350TBI intake/tbi unit on an L03

I've come across what the seller claims to be a 'ported 350 TBI unit and intake manifold'. I say 'claims', since he also says he got it out of an IROC camaro (year unlisted), and IIRC anything involving a 350TBI and a F-body isn't a stock (much less common) configuration. The price is low, so:

Understanding (from what I've read here) that the intake, heads, cam, and exhaust on the L03 are what bog it down, is there any difference between the stock L03 manifold/tbi unit and this item? Will it fit? Is it worth the time (the price will end up quite low...)??

I might be wrong, but a 305 and 350 intake manifold are identical. A ported TBI unit sounds just like one with the free TBI mods done to it.

The only plus I see is that you will get bigger injectors, but with a stock chip and engine you will have too much fuel.

Who manufactured the TBI unit and manifold?
And how much is he selling it for?

Post this info and someone should let you know if its worth it.

More info

It's (from his discription) GM stock parts. He says he 'ported and polished' the intake manifold, and that the whole thing was from a 350TBI. Now since I could probably manage to port/polish my 305 manifold, I was just wondering if GM used any significantly better design on any of the items in this part of the larger TBI motor...

It's going for $9.99 right now (but as an auction item with 3-4 days left, it'll probably jump up significantly), and I was considering buying it if it doesn't top $25 or so...

1. there was never a 350 TBI IROC. If the intake that was on the iroc was also used on 350 TBI trucks, that's a different story.
2. Intake swaps are a pain so I'd only get it if it is bored for a 2" bore TBI like the holley 670 or 454 TBI unit. Or if its cheap enough you could get it for $10 and then have it bored for the bigger TBI.

That I know... I have a feeling that either one of two things happened: (a) someone motor-swapped a 350 TBI truck motor into that IROC (seeing as how at least one person on this board did that, it's possible), or (b) the guy selling it doesn't know the difference between a 305 and 350 (and the intake is just another L03, like I have)... I sent an e-mail asking 'Are you *SURE* it's a 350, not an 305/L03?', and I haven't gotten a reply yet...

I'd be wary...skip getting someone's unknown piece of junk.

Just my $0.02.

it could be from a 305 TBI IROC that was converted to a 350.

Decided not to get it

After further research, I have other things I need to get (POR-15 and a wire-brush for my grinder, to start)... Also, based on what I've been reading, it's a good idea to do heads, cam and intake all at once (since to do either of the first, you have to pull the intake anyway), and since if I do a head swap, I'll probably use vortecs (especially if I can get a set from a scrapped truck) that intake won't work...

P.S. What vehicles came with vortec heads, and what casting number is 'preferred' for a L03 head swap?

Hi, new gut here,
I read this post and came up with a question...
Has anyone ever tried a 2" TBI unit off a 454 and put the 305 injectors in it. It seems like cheap extra airflow to me.

The Vortec 305 was an L30, little brother to the Vortec 350, the L31. But from what I understand, the more popular option for L03 owners is getting the L31s then decking them to get the CR back up...
