Does anyone have the Hot Rod issue with the 13.8 second TBI?
I read on a website somewhere, that Hot Rod did a build up of a 305 TBI and ran 13.8 on slicks (14.2 on street tires). I was just wondering if someone has this issue.

It's on Taz's site. I think that's the one you want.

If that link does not work his name is at the top of the tbi board as one of the moderator's. Just click on his name for his profile and the link is there.

Gotta agree with you guys on this one. Brent & iroc22 that is.
Not a clue and it ran what back when?
And the 305 people here are running what now?

I don't see what's so horrible about it...
They ran 14.2 on unported vette heads and a nearly stock suspension and tbi unit on an engine producing only 260ish horsepower. I wish I could do that!!!!!

hmmmm....vette heads? Which ones? Wonder how much i could get them for? Bet if they had a nice port/polish job mated with maybe an lt1 cam that might be a nice combo....

Yeah it's been tried before on 305's. It's the 86-91 L98 Vette heads. They're fairly easy to find, though I find them overpriced for what you get. They work real well with a nice port and polish. Getting them milled 4cc's isnt a bad idea either.

i see it as a horrible example because they needed a cam and chip to run those times. on a stock cam and chip i went 14.2's and the cars had similar weights(mine was 3280 last year). i know it has been a long time since they did the article and most if not all of the tech we have developed is since then.
it jsut seems liek everytime a magazine does an article with a 305 they get key components wrong and end up slower than people in all 3 induction boards on this site.

Yea, but they were running on stock vette heads (which dont flow all that great) and street tires. Seems to me you were on slicks+skinnies with better heads, no? And your car is 80# lighter. I think they did pretty well taking 1.5 sec off the ET. Hardly a bad result, considering most of the cars here have a fair amount of those mods and run high 14's at best.
