305 to 350
I know there is a wealth of knowledge on this board and I have used some of it. One thing I think would be great since I want to do it is some one who has done the 305 to 350 swap please tell us neophytes how to do it. I am person who if there is a set of instructions can do anything but with out them I am lost. Please if anyone who has done this swap please take a little time and help me and others out I would appreciate it. Thanks.

there isn't much in the way of instructions needed. if you can unplug something and then plug it back in on the same spot on the other motor you have most of the ability to do an engine swap. since a 305 and 350 are teh same externally that is about how complicated most of the work is.
if you wanna see the play by play of swapping a 305 for a vortec 350 you can check out jprevost's site. any othe rswap info you woudl need can be found on the motor swap board.

i asked this same question before, but didnt go through with the swap, due to a complete lack of any money. But some people on this board said i would need a 350 truck comp to plug into the harness, and a knock sensor from a 350, and i think a couple other sensors too, other than that i beleive its a very straight forward swap to do.

I've done the 305 TBI to TBI 350 swap.
You need (bare miimum):
350 Truck Injectors, Part#17112493 (x2)
350 Knock Sensor, Part# 10456288
350 Knock Module, Part# 16128261
And a Chip for a 350.(possibly Caprice chip if you have an Automatic Trans)-You don't need to change the computer.
I had a custom chip burned.
You might be able to get away without some of these items, but if you get them all, it's a pretty straightforward swap, with little
or no tweeking required.

I'm right in the middle of this same swap. Can I get by with the 305 knock sensor/module, or is that change mandatory? Also..when I upgrade the chip to Jet or Hypertech, do I order a chip for a 305, or a 350? What would the difference be? Rich mentioned the injector & knock sensor/module change as "Bare minimum". What else would you recommend? Thanks.
