Intake manifold...how much difference?

Well, the stock intake manifold leaves a lot to be desired, that's very true. Are you using your stock TBI unit? The Edelbrock and Holley intake manifolds are nice for TBI, or you can look into getting a single plane manifold for more volume. Are you going to be using your EGR system? The Holley/Weiand 300-49 intake is a nice manifold and holds into the higher RPM range. (Around 6000 RPM), but I have older style heads on my engine.
I think the 300-66 is the same manifold with the angled bolt pattern to fit 87-up heads. I'm not sure, you might want to check with Holley. It is an EGR friendly manifold and yes there is a difference.
You might need to get a TBI spacer (about 1/2") so you can fit your EGR valve.
I like what I have, but others might guide you into something better for your needs.

1" Spacer with 300-49
Hood clearance will be an issue with that manifold.... If you look at the picture of my car, that hood is raised....
If you are planning on using your stock hood you will not be able to fit it with the 3" open element...
However... you may be able to go with a drop base with a 2" or 2 1/2" element....
Try 2 1/2" first.

I'm gonna probaly add the edelbrock TBI one after I get my headers and drop my 2.73s for something better. I've heard its worth a good 10 HP and 30 #/ft of torque, is that about right?
I'll probably pick up a junkyard TBI unit and work that over and just bolt it on with the new intake to help even more.

i told the machine shop i wanted those valves and they installed them for me. i think i am runing into problems because of those...something like valve shrouding or something. im gonna swap those with smaller valves and see if that cures it. car runs absolutely like **** right now...thats why because i am changing valves i wanna replace the intake manifold also. they fit though... at least the machine shop made them fit.

How much $$$ was it to get the bigger valves installed? Did you supply the valves? What kind were they?
You'll run into valve/cylinder wall problems with anything above 0.450" lift, or so I'm told. 2.02 valves will work okay, with anything under. Ask NJSPEEDER. He runs 2.02/1.60's on his 305.
