What should I coat my SFC's with?
I just got my Spohn subframes today, I went with the uncoated ones. I'm kinda poor(high school kid), and I was wondering, is it worth it to spend the $$$ for POR-15? Or would I be just as good with like a rustoleum or something? I forget, was the POR-15 like 30$ per pint was it? I can't remember... any suggestions/opinions?

I did mine with POR-15 and that stuff goes a long way. The only problem with using it is you pretty much have to go with the whole kit which will still only run you around 30 bucks. The finished product will look a lot cleaner than a powder coated finish that had to be ground off. If I had a digital camera I would take a picture of mine so you could judge. Once dry it looks just as good as any powdercoat.

I went with a quart and it was more than enough, like I said this stuff goes a long way. A pint should be adiquate. By kit I'm refering to purchasing the surface cleaner and prep spray, the amount of paint is up to you.

I just put in the kenny browns this weekend and undercoated the crap out of them with MOPAR undercoating (work at chrysler dealership). POR-15 would probably work good too, but I had the undercoating at my disposal. At the very least, spray paint everything when you're done.

Hey BigL, how do you like your KB SFCs. I'll be ordering mine pretty soon along with their street cage. Oh, and where did you order them from. There's a place that sells them for $229 as opposed to $249 directly from them.

I guess I overpaid getting them from KB. They were a PITA to put in, but I guess no more than any other SFC. I have nothing to compare them to because these are the first SFC's I have ever installed. I would definitely get them again though. The only difficult parts were having to hammer the s&!t out of them to get them to fit between the frame and the convertible reinforcement. you have to unbolt the cat hanger to get at the connection with the framerail with the welder, and the piece that goes above the cat fits under the heat shielding, with a little bending of the shielding. I'm really happy with the results. The car seems a lot stiffer, along with the ride being a little harsher. I'd definitely say they're a must if you have a convertible, even if you are just trying to keep it stock or restore it. I think that's the only mod that is so necessary that it should not be looked down upon from a collectors standpoint.
