4th gen wheels on 3rd gen
I'm sure this questions has been posted 100 times but, I was hoping to use my tax rebate on 4th gen ZR1wheels for my 1991 camaro. I know this is possibloe because I have seen it on you cars all the time. My questions are, 1. I know i need some kind of adaptor, what kind, from where and how much. Where does this adaptor go and how does it attach. 2. What size wheel 17x9 or 17x9.5 (does it matter)? 3. What about size for the tires. I want as wide as poss and low profile as possible. 4. does anybody have a total cost on their converstion: tires, wheels, mounting, adaptors, shipping, ect. Thanks for the help.

I have spacers from www.vettebrakes.com on my car. $353 shipped for (4) 2-1/4" bolt on spacers.
I bought my 17x9 WS6 wheels for $225
275/40/17 Kuhmo Ecsta Supra 712's were $488 for the set
Mounting and Balancing were free, friend did it for me at his work.
With this setup, my front tires rub the inner fender wells when I turn sharp, and my rear tires rub my fender since the car sits so low and the spacers are too wide. You need 1-3/4" on the rear for correct width.
I just finished installing a 4th gen rear on the car so I am selling my spacers to a friend of mine who I helped install his 4th gen rear on his car a few days ago.
If I were you, I'd buy 2 spacers for the front and get a 4th gen rearend.
Here is a video of my car with the 17x9's on them,

The spacers/adapters get bolted to the axles with a set of lugnuts, then the wheels bolt to the spacers. They're usually made of solid aluminum and are extremely strong.
I'm not sure why the above used such thick spacers in the rear. I only had to use 1.25" in the rear for my 17x9 WS6 wheels. I used 2.25" in the front.

on the cars with 4th gen wheels, how dose the offset work. Are the front and back the same offset, or do you have the 16mm differance with 2 sets of diff wheels. Also on my current wheels, i know there is an offset differance of 16mm, but what is the total for the front and back, i think it is something like 38mm and 54mm. (diffrence of 16mm)

I don't hate you cuz your car is painted.
I chose 2-1/4" all around since it made selling the rear spacers easier. I sold my chrome wheels and rear spacers to a friend who put a 4th gen rear on this past week and needs spacer for his front wheels. I just put my 4th gen rear on last night so now he can buy my rear spacers that will fit the front wheels.
Here is a video of my car and you can see how great the wheels look on a moving vehicle,

I went to www.justadapters.com and the adapters that we would need couat about $80 for one. www.vettebrakes sells 2 for about $150. Vettebrakes is accually cheaper and alot more trusted.
