Bilstein rear shocks..hd's or sp's?
Im shopping to replace my rear shocks from stock.I got a used paid of bilstein ak's(rebadged hd's) from hawks and would like to run bilsteins in the rear.I have eibach sportlines.I do spirited driving often and some drag time at the track so Id like to know are there any major differences between these 2 shocks and what would be better for my car/driving habits. To me..comfort can be sacrificed for a car that is well planted to the ground..these cars arent caddilacs and I dont want to feel like Im floating on air lol.

Yea I decided thats the best way, what i dont get is how come there is no difference in front shocks for lowered cars.Just the rears have sp's for lowered cars but the fronts remain the same?

I'm not sure on the fronts but my guess is they are to costly to make a shorter version.??
It is also easier to use/make a upper strut mount with a different mounting point height so 1 strut will work.
The rearend would need modded for a longer shock mount..
I wouldn't think 1" is really enuff to get crazy about unless your lowering 2" or more.

I have used Bilsteins for as long as I can remember. You can send them back to the factory and get them rebuilt.

I could only justify getting a shorter travel shocks in the rear if the car is radically slammed - as said, 2" or more.
I've yet to see any posts in which someone used a common set of lowering springs (1" to 1.3" drop) and lost all travel to the point in which they were slamming the front struts or rear shocks. But I have heard of others hitting bumpstops...
I'm running AK's all around with Sportlines, and they are some pretty stiff shocks. I've yet to hit the bumpstops.
