S-10 MANUAL STEERING SWAP QUESTION?
I performed swap and now steering wheel is completly off centered...Is this normal? I centered S-10 (it was 7 turns lock to lock) box before the install. I searched many manual steering posts and did not see anything. Not sure if I have done something incorectly.
Thanks

if i remember correctly the pitman arm can only go a few different ways but the rag joint can go anyway. if thats correct just straighten the tires. disconnect the rag joint, center your wheel and hook it back up.i just got rid of mine. but i believe that is how it was

I beilive the rag joint and shaft coming out of manual box have flat spot so that also only goes on one way.

I can't believe no one has had any issue with steering wheel alignment after converting from power to manual steering. Thanks for any input.

Re: S-10 MANUAL STEERING SWAP QUESTION?
I just did mine a few weeks ago, the steering shaft only goes onto the box input shaft one way, it's got a flat spot in it. I remember that being a pain to line up.
The pittman arm could go on wrong but it would be like 90 degrees off, if i remember right the splines wouldn't let it go anywhere in between that.
I could probably snap pics if you need some.

So after installing manual box you had know issue with steering wheel being off center? My box is 7 turns lock to lock and when centered pitman arm seem to look strait. My issue is when sliding steering shaft onto input shaft on box steering wheel is completly off center by almost 90 degrees. I can adjust pitman arm but then box will not be centered.

Nope, mine's perfect.
I'll get you a pic of the steering shaft VS the input shaft to the box, if the orientation of the retainer bolt is the same between them then there must be an issue with your pittman arm.

Yah, that almost sounds like the cause..
Here is mine, wheels, steering wheel and pittman arm are all straight. You can see the retainer bolt on the steering shaft is at a little bit of an angle.

Re: S-10 MANUAL STEERING SWAP QUESTION?
There are slight variances in the pitman arms from manufacturers, and years etc. It is very normal, infact its highly reccomended to have an alignment done after any front end work. It is amazing how such a small difference in parts can throw off the steering wheel. It really doesn't take much.
