A Arm Powder Coat and Bushings

Ok so just got my A Arms back from powder coating.. Great job but the bushing and ball joint press points are also powder coated.. Anybody pressed them in without grinding away the powder coating where the bushing and ball joint cases seat??? Not sure if the powder buildup will prevent them from pressing in or if it will make it way too difficult.. They were blasted before powder coat...

Thanks....

Re: A Arm Powder Coat and Bushings

I always clean the coating off b4 I press in new bushings. Makes it a lot easier.

Those areas should have been masked off. Use patience and a good solvent to carefully remove the powder-coat. I suppose another method could be to mask off the powder-coat and bead blast those surfaces.

Re: A Arm Powder Coat and Bushings

I used a drum style shaft mounted sanding wheel on my die grinder and just cut down the bushing are to metal and squirted some black paint in there and pressed in the new bushing and joints. 6 years later you would never know the podwer was ground off in those areas.

Re: A Arm Powder Coat and Bushings

Actually, I was able to press them all in without cleaning the powder coat away.. Better for rust protection I guess...
