Suspension/Rear Sway Bar Questions
I just put my firebird away for the Wisconsin winter and Im already looking to do some suspension work to complement the motor work from last winter. I got a steal of a deal on some Spohn rear control arms and a panhard bar, along with a few other things. I got the control arms and panhard bar in with no troubles but now I wanna attack the sway bars.
My bird was originally a v6 car; it has a pinky sized sway bar up front and NOTHING in the rear. First of all, is this normal?
I have the largest sway bar available for the front coupled with poly bushings and links laying in the corner of the shop... Will these fit in my original mounts? I also picked up a decent sized rear sway bar off of a ws6 but like stated earlier I have no mounts or nothing in the rear. What do I need? I work at a parts store so getting parts shouldn't be hard but suspension isn't my thing...

Re: Suspension/Rear Sway Bar Questions
Yes that is pretty much normal, especially for the earliest years of these cars.
I'd suggest not worrying about the stock bushings and end links; instead, go to AutoZone and get Energy Suspension ones, or check out what some of the sponsors of this board have to offer.
For the rear you need a specific arrangement involving a U-bolts. AFAIK it is not available at a parts store. However also AFAIK the same parts were used up to 2002 so a trip to the GM store would be in order. While you're at it, check some of the gratuitous picture threads in this forum, some of those happen to show those parts fairly clearly.

Or you could find the hardware at a bone yard and purchase the bushings at an auto parts store. The bushing shells, BTW, are all the same regardless of bushing size.
