HOW do i index front coils

Car: 1985 camaro Z28
Engine: 350 pos
Transmission: trbo 350
Axle/Gears: 308
HOW do i index front coils

ok so i bought a set of ksport gt lowering springs 1.75 all the way around i still need to install the rears yet but when i instaled the fronts it stayed the same ride hight as stock z28 springs so IDK what i did and i hear talk about indexing them so anyone with helpfull info i will greatly apreciat it and if you can plez send pics and tech info because i am tierd of tearing it apart i just want it done right once thanks :thanks:

Often the OE springs have sagged to such an extent that lowering springs set the car at the same height as the old (though in your case a 1.75 sag would be considerable). The front springs should be indexed so that one but not both of the drain holes in the a-arm is covered. There is no indexing on the rears.

thank you for the info im assuming that you r talking about the 2 holes that are close toghter in that case all i need to do is slid it back about a 1/2 inch becasue im asssuming that those holes are buy the notch in the a arm where the spring sets hopefully that fixes the problem but for somereason i cant even remeber thier beinging 2 holes but well find out today i gess thank you

Just make sure one hole is completely covered by the bottom coil that's making contact on the a-arm. Its easy. As far as indexing on the rear springs go there isn't a spec, but i have found that moving the coils around has helped get things level.

Interesting. I've had the rear springs in and out on several occasions, never paying attention to how they were situated, and the ride height was always remained the same.

thanks everyone for the info all i had to do was twist both back about 1/2 inch got bothe done in about 45 min now on to the rears

My body sat higher on one side i cant recall but it was about 1/8" to 1/4" or more of a difference by turning the coil on one side i was able to level it. James next time you pull the rears take a look, Its the bottom of the spring that sits on the rear end spring perch's

here's a pic i found that will make more sense, the suspension unloaded but the perches are not level even with the suspension loaded as i recall.
