i saw these on the SLP site, and they are ver modestly priced. are they not as good as edelbrock or hotchkis?

They are boxed factory pieces with poly bushings.Stronger than what you have stock... yes,but not as good or strong as Hotchkis or Edelbrock.

Spohns are not boxed in factory pieces they are tubular and very strong aftermarket ones very good price especially when all brands are about the same in quality and strength.
