Tire Hitting Top of Wheel Well

I just got some new tires for the rear and i like them alot but my shocks i have now givc to much and they allow the tire to hit the top of the wheel well. Does anyone know what i can do. I looked at the air spring thing in jegs would that work. I think i need some new shocks and a shock that is a little stiffer anybody with a idea??

Shocks don't determine ride height, springs do. You most likely need new ones. Shocks probably wouldn't hurt, but they don't hold the car up.

Sounds like your tires are just too tall.

If you must keep them you can increase the ride height of the car some with the Air Lift 1000 bags. They also increase spring rate which will reduce bottoming out o bumps.
To totaly eliminate bottoming the wheel well agaist the tire replace the stock rubber travel limiters/snubbers with taller, stiffer Energy Suspension snubbers, or you can shim the stock snubbers with longer bolts and a spacer plate/shim made of metal plate or wasers. Space or size the snubber so the axle hits and bottoms agaist it before the tire hits the wheel well.

You can raise the back end up to prevent the rubbing, but that will hurt handling. What size tires did you get? Sounds like they are too tall/wide.

Where do they hit? The fenderlip? You could roll the fenderlip, if you're not squeamish. Are they rubbing the inner fender, at the bottom? Some persuasion with a sledgehammer might help, and spray some new undercoating over it so nobody notices. Is it hitting the inside "top" on the driver's side? There's a plastic guard for the fuel tank "fill neck" that might've dropped out of it's proper location.

Its hitting the outside fender lip on the inner side of it. If that makes any sense.

So basically, your car's fender lip is slicing into your sidewall? By how much?

Just tweak that lip a little bit.

Does anyone think by putting new stiffer shocks in, it will help stop the hitting on the fender well?

That size tire would not rub if mounted on wheels with the correct backspacing/offset.

If you do not want to change wheels You can "roll" the inner edge of the fender lip up to reduce/eliminate rubbing.

Changing shocks probably won't help but you can install a set of "Air Lift" 1000 air bags in the rear axle springs to stiffen the rear suspension to prevent bottoming.

The best thing like "traction bars" for third generation F bodies would be "adjustable LCA relocation brackets" also known as "antisquat brackets". You can see posts all over this board about them.

have to agree with the springs post ... if you have WS6/F41 and your rubbing look for aftermarket ones with higher rates ... I beleive the stock generic rear rate is around 100lbs .. the WS6/F41 is around 125 .. and most aftermarket ones are around 150 ... supposedly the best for a 3rd gen is 175 ..which is a custom job for a 5.5" diameter ....
