New Drag Car Construction

Just Curious If anyone knows the strength and weight difference between a t-top camaro and a non t-top. Is there any difference in strength between a rs v6 car and a iroc v8 car. I am getting ready to start a drag radial build and I want to start with the best car, any info would be appreciated.

the chassis is the same v6 or v8. hard top cars are obviously a little more solid, but all cars will need at least a set of subframe commectors, and if you are going fast enough, a roll bar/cage as well.

Re: New Drag Car Construction

My car is a T-top. I installed a roll bar after my first year of racing when I was knocking on 11 seconds. Back then, a roll bar was required at 11.99. Now it's 11.49.

My car now has a full cage and still has T-tops.

The easiest and cheapest way to build a car is to buy somebody else's car or start with a tube chassis. By the time you've invested a lot of time and effort to build a race car from a production car, you'll spend at least twice as much money.

If you want to use a production third gen to make a race car, start with a rust free car. With a unibody car, you don't want one full of rust. You'll also have to pay a premium price to buy one but it will be cheaper than what you'll have to pay to fix rust.
