Something everyone should know about 89+ suspension
I have both 92RS and an 88 SC. What i noticed in the 92RS is that the sway bars are noticaby thicker, and the RS isn't even a Z28 or an IROC. When i went to the junk yard today, i looked at other camaros and found that 89 and up have the thicker sway bars but they are still not as thick as an IROC. So i pulled the sway bars out of the iroc (including the wonderbar) and am going to install them on my 88. I measured the thickness of the front sway bar (from an 85 IROC Z) and it was 1 1/4" thick, which is only a little bit thicker then the ones on 89+ cars.

I believe RS's in 91-92 (like mine) came with big sway bars if ordered w/F41 suspension and 16x8" wheels.I believe 1LE is only factory bar that's bigger. Everyone I've talked to says they don't make a bar any bigger than the one that came on my 92.Also came with Z28 steering box.

to my understanding F41 suspensions were options on the 88-90 rs's and standard on the 91 92's

F41 is just a optional suspension for non WS6,IROC, and Z28 cars. The F41 came with sport tuned springs front and rear, better shock valving, larger sway bars and sport ratio steering on most Camaros I believe the 16x8 wheels were standard with this package. The WS6,IROC,Z28 suspensions were all a step above the F41, with better shock valving and performance/handling springs the 1LE is the best it had this plus adjustable Koni shocks and road race/handling springs. Sorry for the long post but I didn't want to leave anything out.

ok......just went and checked...89-90 F41 was an optional suspension on base models and standard on Z28 and t/a formula gta......the WS6 was an optional suspension on the upper models of the firebird line and FE1 was the optional suspension on Z's....in 1991-92 the F41 was STANDARD on base models and the FE1 was standard on Z's and formulas, t/a's and gta's.....the 1LE was an optional suspension package that came on the upper model line cars
