on my 4th gen I run DuraStops on the street and at the track I run the Hawk "black" pads.

whichever ones you run, though, be sure to 'bed' them first to get the most out of them.

where are you going to road race?

I will run at watkins glen.
did you try the durastops at the track? do you think they will hold up, or fade real bad??

I was thinking of running bendix fleet pads, but I got talked out of it. they said it will ruin my fun filled day when my brakes fade after 2 laps.......

I ran the DuraStops most of last season, and they were fine.

I switched to the Hawk this season, and they are better since I'm also using Hoosier 'R' compound tires.

I'm also running the GMPP front rotors.
(This is on a '99 Camaro SS)

The 'Glen' is an awesome track. Are you getting to run the entire track (3.48 mile)?

So you ran durastop street pads without fade at track events....that's great.

I'm not sure how long the track is,I never did this before. I will be running Kumho's.

For now i have bendix fleet pads in there, but I will pick up hawks, but I'm not sure which compound. they make a HPS Plus compound which they say is streetable, or I may go black. we'll see....

I have not used any of the pads mentioned, but would highly recomend the Carbotech Panther pads on the front, and something like the SSF pads out back. A friend of mine that I road race with has used Durastops, and reported that they worked OK, but were not impressive.

.. for track days and the street, DuraStops are OK. When you get a little more aggressive on the track, you'll definitly will want something better.

I went with Hawk because I help out the Tiger Racing team when I can and they use them and are a distributor for them. Talk to Chris if you call them. Right now they are getting geared up for the SCCA Runoffs at Mid Ohio, week after next.

Larry, have a great time at 'the Glen', and remember, "Smooth is Fast".
