Why is my driver's front brake squeaking when pads were just replaced?
I have new pads up front, but at slow speeds I can hear the driver's side brake squeaking and when I hit the brake, the squeak goes away and it might start squeaking again depending on how long I hold the brake.
Why is it squeaking when I don't even use the brakes and why is a brand new pad squeaking? I'm getting a lot of brake dust on my wheels so I'm not sure if that indicates something.
As far I know it's just the driver's side because that's where it sounds like it's coming from, but it's a lot easier for me to hear a squeak on the side I sit on.

1990 GTA
-355 carb'd, nicely reworked '64 vette heads, 2500 stall, 4.10's, other small things.
-Alston SFC's, Eibach Pro-kit, Koni's all around
-100+ nitrous shot
-Cruising in style with leather and nice stereo.

check to make sure the 'low pad lining' indicator tab didn't get bent inward.
Also make sure that pad got put on the inboard side.

Did you put the "silencer" clip on? If you didn't go and get a silencing kit. Also, put a little grease on the BACK of the pads where they touch the piston.

I had the same problem. My brakes were 'chattering' You need one of those clips, which are easy to install. After you put it on, there's one more very important step. Grab a hammer and pound the sh*t out of it! You need to make sure that the pad won't move. It worked for me.
