What more suspension upgrades?
Hi there...
I am planning doing some more suspension upgrades to my 87 Camaro.
I have done quite a few so far but I still want a little bit more handling and cornering from the car. I actually feel that the car still doesn't perform as well..
Here are my mods so far:
*Eibach lowering springs.
*KYB adjustable shocks
*Spohn Sway bars (front & rear) with poly bushings.
I am now waiting on a package which includes:
* Poly bushings on: Panhard bar, Lower rear control arms, Front A-arms
* LCA relocation brackets.
This is my current mod so far. I have also done a lot of tuning and rebuilt the whole engine and tranny last winter and have also put a Auburn POSI differential carrier with 3.42 gears inside the rear axle.
I have been thinking of SFC's??..What are your recommandations on those?. I have used Spohn performance on most of my parts so far and I am VERY satisfied with that brand and will probably use them for the future also.
My back tires are currently 255/40/18 with the IROC replica chrome wheels. I know some of you are going to make comments about the tire diameter since my tires are a little on the "big" side of the total diameter but I am going to buy new rims and tires very soon so that will be fixed..
Any suggestions appreciated..

My opinion is that SFC's should be the first mod on any 3rd gen car. Also on a20yr+ old car everything that is a wear part should be replaced.
Spohn SFC's are a good choice, I installed their tube type design when they first came out. A good product with good results on my car.

I think the next thing would be the SFC's since I have heard a lot of good satisfaction on those.
I hear that you are familiar with products from Spohn. Mayby I will go for their SFC's then...
I have also been been thinking of making my own since I have access to a steel factory with all kinds of angle irons, steel plates, flat irons etc. etc.
Have anyone of you made your own SFC's???

Also, if not done yet, would be the wonderbar (ie steering brace) - makes a huge difference in the front end. Either grab one off a JY IROC or Z28, or order the TDS one.
And a strut tower brace helps alot in the front - not as big a difference as the wonderbar, but noticeable for sure.

Sorry, forgot to mention that. I have a wonderbar also. I think that helped out a lot on the steering so I agree with you on that one.
I haven't got a strut tower brace yet but I have been thinking on getting one of those too. Would the strut tower brace make any noticeable effect??

Re: What more suspension upgrades?
SFCs were the second chassis mod I did- should have been the first! The thing drives like a Lexus by comparison to before. Wonderbar I did first- got the TDS one(best one on the market- the 3rd bolt hole makes it a snap to insert. You will understand when you read the instructions. 20 minutes, start to finish...). Made an incredible difference- really stiffened things up. The STB I barely noticed an improvement with, but it looks cool!
