What is the name of this part?
Hey everyone. I used to have an account here quite some time ago but I can't remember what it was. Anyhow, I was driving home from a wonderful fishing trip with my girlfriend when I noticed that my car was "swimming". The best way I can describe it is that it felt like I was riding on the back of a fish. After verifying that I was not on any type of drug, I jacked my car up. To my dismay, part of my car is gone without a trace, and I have no clue what it is called.
I drive a 1990 RS, for clarification purposes, and I haven't been able to find a picture anywhere. It is a bar that runs the width of the car, starting about at the back edge of the rear tire. It is not the sway bar. It bolts in on both sides of the car to a piece of metal that appears to be welded onto the axle. This piece borders the place where the spring meets the axle.
This bar is broken right in the middle, about where you would find the pumpkin. In addition the part that it would bolt into is completely gone, without a trace, on the right side.
I need to know both the name of the bar and the part it bolts into.
Any help would be VERY appreciated.
Thank you.
EDIT: I found a picture. Obviously this is not the same car, but I believe the bar attached on the left side that is hanging down on the ground is the same part I am referring to.

Two more questions. Am I right to assume that the Panhard bar is also known as the track bar?
And more importantly, this bar bolts into something. I've found something called a track bar bracket but this doesn't look like all there is to it.
Anyone know what the part it bolts into is called?

if one of those mounting points are missing, you have a serious problem.

Here is where it bolts to on the body. I have an aftermarket panhard bar, thats why it looks different.

It is welded.
I would really like to see a pic of that spot on your car. I really dont think it would just "come off" all of a sudden. Never heard of anything like that before.
