Those wheels and tire combo are going to make your speedo read off. The tire is taller than it should be with an 18" rim (it should be 35 height). I actually find it looks good like this because there is more tire (not as stiff) and it fills the wheel well nicely. A new speedo gear is all that is necessary probably to recalibrate the speedo if you have 700r4.

i Guess i can finally post here. lowered my birdy back in december but it wasnt good enough. just got around to removing the iso's out back and the front ones and replacing it with some hose i had laying around. its lowered on sportlines and front coils are trimmed down 3/8ths of a coil so like 1/4 coil then half of that... its a v6 and it looks pretty dam sweet. not to low but definitely not a sky scraper haha
can is a regular coke can, its taller by like a 1/2 inch from where the lowest part of the exhaust sits

Your springs are going to settle at some point and you'll probably have rub in the fenders. Your car looks about as low as mine with about 12k on my sportlines.

Re: "OFFICIAL" Lowered 3rd Gen Picture Thread (Post Your Pics Here)
Springs dont really settle that much. I cut mine over a year ago, not much difference.
I wanna go lower. The driver's side sits higher for some reason. It's done that through 2 sets of springs, and the second was later cut. Driver's side still sits higher. Weird. I think one of the rear springs is too tall on that side, though. Seems the passenger front is the lowest and the driver rear is the highest. So I'm gonna cut a little more off the driver side rear spring and see what happens.

My car is the same. Driver's side is slightly higher than passenger side. I think it's because when the driver gets in the car, it lowers slightly, probably a half inch or so maybe more, so then it balances out with the passenger side.

Been on this forum for years and I don't think I've posted any pics of my car yet. Here's one of the week I bought it, back in 2001. I don't have any recent pics as the car has been in storage for a few years now but hopefully soon I'll have a lot of updates. Just bought a house with a nice sized garage so my baby will be coming home for a total transformation hopefully! By the way, someone was asking to see a lowered 82-84 camaro, well mine is an 82 Z28. It's on 17inch centerline spears and I'm not totally sure on what springs are on the car to lower it. After looking through some pics of the undercarriage, they're blue but the pics don't show any writing, I'll have to look next time I pull it out of storage.

This is my Wife Diane with her 85 IROCZ, it's been lowered 2" new ploy bushings, I replaced the Dif with a detroit trutrack and the stock 3:42 gears. Over the winter it'll get a tubeular K member and maybe a rack and pinion. New pan hard bars and control arms. The engine will be replaced with small block 427 and a T-56 tranny

I cut 1/2 coil off the front stock springs. Removed the rear isolators(replaced with 1/2in heater hose) and cut about 1/3 coil off the rear springs. Its not super low but lowered enough its noticable and I can still get over the curb going into my driveway without scraping the air dam.

Well seeing as how I raised my car back up by 2" I think I should share an updated picture. It's still about 2" lower from stock.

LS1 engine (98 Corvette), along with tubular K and A-arms dropped about 150 lbs. Lighter car sat higher on the Eibach Pro Kit rears I had been using, so I went to Sportlines and thin (aftermarket) spring isolators.
The front has a Spohn coil over kit with 300 lb springs. I can set it most anywhere. I use big sway bars, Koni Reds in front and Bilsteins in the rear. The setup handles nicely.

My car used to sit about 1.5-2" lower in the front than the back with the old iron 357/700R4 combo. Now it sits 3" HIGHER in the front than the back with the LS3/T56.
The factory shocks are even extended all the way upwards.
How can i lower the car back down?
I wanted to lower the car about 1.5"-2" as it was as it say high from factory.
Do i gotta get lowering springs than cut the front ones until it sits level?

I have some brand new Eibach Sportlines I can sell you.... I used the rears, and have coil overs on the front.... that might do the trick....
Another way is to go to coil overs and set the front anywhere you want.

Re: "OFFICIAL" Lowered 3rd Gen Picture Thread (Post Your Pics Here)
I would appreciate some advice from people who have had experience lowering their cars. I'm sick of my Firebird looking like a monster truck so I bought 1.5" lowering springs all around and new shocks all around, installed them yesterday and literally saw little to no difference at all. I believe it is because the shocks need time to break in, but even after they do I just don't think there's really gonna be a difference. I am probably gonna take them back out and cut them. My question is, how many springs should I cut to get rid of the gap in between the fender and tires evenly all around?

I mean I've driven it combined for probably an hour since I "lowered" it and still haven't really noticed a change.

You have to realize also that your car is more than 20 years old. So the old springs and shocks were probably worn out and made the car seem lower. I have Eibach sportlines (about 2 inch drop) and they settled out in about 2500 miles. I can fit 2 fingers in between the fender and my tire.
