Rear sway bar is in adiffrent spot on my 86 then my frinds 86?

We both have z 28 I swapped in a 9-bolt but The sway bars are the same, his bar almost huggs the rear while mine is further away, does anyone have picks or could you exlain how yours look?

Has one car been lowered? That would effect the angle of the sway bar and how closely it hugs the rear end housing.

My ca is lowered but would that make the sway bar stick out more? The car had a 10 bolt and mine has a 9 bolt does that make a diff? I don't think it is in wrong.

The end links are connected to the body and the bushings to the rear so if you lowered the car it would fulcrum the bar and flip it up. No performance difference though....?

My bar seems to be further away from the rear end and a little lower.

I'm a bit confused here...

Are you talking about the distance of the bar from the axle where the bar is straight?

Or are you talking about the distance in the spot where the sway bar curves around the center of the axle?

The first would be determined by the mounting bushings for the anti-sway bar, held on by clamps similar to that used on mufflers.

The second would be determined by ride height, as the other members here mentioned. It might also be determined by the shape of the center of the axle- I've never seen a 9 bolt in junkyards so I have no data on this.
