Make a right turn and get some noise?
The other day I was coming home from school, messing around with this guy that thought his 93+ V-6 was bad stuff, and made a quick right turn onto another street. When I made the turn, I heard, and felt a thump. At first I thought I ran over something, but it has happened again. It only does it when I make a right turn, and only when it is somewhat agressive. It sounds loud, and can be felt though the pedals and the steering column. Does anyone know what it might be? A friend suggested CV joints, but I know nothing about those. Thanks
Matt

Last time I checked, Camaros weren't front wheel drive! Just busting your *****, CV joints, or constant velocity joints, are only present on front wheel drive cars. As far as the "thump" that you're hearing, where does the "thump" seem to generate from? Since I don't know the source of the problem, you can start by checking out your transmission mount. These are notorious for going bad by cracking or seperating from the metal bracket that bolts to the tranny. This "thump" can also sometimes be felt upon a stopped hard lauch (sitting idle and hammering the throttle)or low speed hard lauch. I would replace it anyway, whether or not it is bad, because it WILL eventually go bad, besides it only costs about $5 at AutoZone! If that doesn't fix your problem I would start looking at the bushings in the rear end. Is the rear POSI? If so, the POSI clutches or bearings may be going out. If you reply with a little more detail you will most likely get a better response. Good Luck!

Sorry to not explain myself better. Let me try this. Would the ball joints make sense? I know little to nothing about suspension, as you can tell. I am basing my assumptions on what my sources are telling me. I went to a better source the second time.
I know it is not the tranny mount (I've broke about three of those), and I know that the rear end (complete) was replaced about a year or two ago. So those are out. It seems to be coming from the front end towards the wheel area. I want to say that it mainly comes from the passenger side, but sometimes I can't tell. It seems almost like something is rubbing, or slipping out of place and then back in. Like I said, it only happens when I make a right hand turn, usually the more aggressive. What I mean by aggressive is say a 25+ mph turn or a very sharp turn. Thanks for your ideas.

resurrecting this one from the dead -- I have th exact same problem.
low speed roll out turning to the right only, a thump from the front end
hard to say exactly where, ahead of the fire wall but can be felt thru the steering wheel
any ideas?

I get this same thing, and I know I have a bad centerlink (vertical play) and probably need some strut mounts... I would start checking there for any turning clunks, then move on to replacing A-arm bushings and ball joints if your search is fruitless.

Thing is my car has about 65,000 miles on it. Does that matter or is it just they are 18 years old and need replacing...
