grease destroys poly bushings?
The other day I was changing the oil in my car.
I decided to grease my polygraphite/polycarbonite (can't remember which) bushings. However, my synco superlube (synthetic) was inadvertantly left in another state during a move, so I only had conventional grease available.
I knew the conventional grease wasn't as good, but I figured it wouldn't hurt until I could squirt some synthetic in there at a later date.
Today I read that regular grease breaks down poly bushings. Do I need to remove the bushings from my car, wash them, and then reapply grease? Or will squirting some fresh synthetic in there do the trick?
Thanks for the help!
Bill

I had always heard the same thing, so I always used powdered poly-graphite to lube mine, back when I had polyurethane bushings on my cars. Now I have rod-ends on my stuff.

Re: grease destroys poly bushings?
I was niave at the time I ordered all my poly/heim ends. I never got around to ordering the special grease stuff spohn, umi, and many others sell for the polyurethane. I've been using conventional grease for the last two years with no noticeable ill effects.
With that said... I've read that the conventional grease erodes the polyurethane due to the chemical make up of the two. I've never seen pictures proving this to be true so maybe it is just a gimmick. I really don't know.
