Trans crossmemeber rusted off... possible solutions?
So I was driving like normal and I noticed my shifter was moving around a lot more than usual, and I heard a knocking when I let off the gas. Apparently, the spot where my trans cross member bolts to the frame rusted bad and tore loose. Has anyone encountered this before or know how to go about repairing this? Or maybe know of a good shop in the west Chicago-land area? Here's a few pictures of it:

have to cut that part off a doner car, or fab up a new frame section with nuts welded inside for the crossmember.
how bad is the rest of the underside as far as rust? It looks pretty serious, you may want to look into a different car

looks pretty bad i had a similar situation, my bolts stripped due to rust, all i did was ad a plate inside the subframe, might want to rethink if you want to keep the car, i ended up pulling up my rusty floor anyways and fixing my dented rusty subframe

Re: Trans crossmemeber rusted off... possible solutions?
The rust is very localized to that area so I don't think I need to get rid of the car. I hope I can get away with just adding a plate and not have to replace the floor and subframe there. Thanks for the responses.
