As long as there is not an excessive amount of play in them, clean them up and reuse them. If you can get them clean enough, then paint them. Just make sure you put fresh grease in them. New boots wouldn't be necessary if the old ones are not ripped, torn, or rotting.

is it really worth going through all that on a part that wears out?
I would buy new parts and paint them what ever color I wanted instead of going through all that work on parts that may only last a few thousand miles but thats just me

If they are the original, then yes I would replace them. However, he didn't say if they are original or if they only have 10K on them. That's why I asked how much play is in them. That will be the determining factor, and is not something we can judge from a pic. If they have no play in them, I don't see the problem in reusing them.

I liked the idea of NOT running around trying to find parts for 22yr+ car and having the dumb parts guy ording the wrong items. UPS's to my door in three days without going anywhere and the parts fit.

Re: Are these junk, or can I save them?
Seems like a good time to ask..........
I really like the aftermarket tie rod adjusting sleeves, with locknuts, over the stock type. My question is, does anyone make them in steel rather than the aluminum ones I have seen discussed in posts on this board?
I don't mind the slight extra weight, they should be a little cheaper and I absolutely hate the dissimilar metals corrosion issues between aluminum and steel, especially on a daily driven street car that will see snow and road salt. I know, you would lube 'em up really well. But still, I'd like to find steel ones.

that i know of most are made from steel or chrome molly im sure that it might be confusing since there sometimes zinc coated giving it the appearance of aluminum. but im running steel ones look at post #13 theres even a link for them there too
