Re: Prostreet Camaro Project
Time for a small update.
I bolted the converter to the flexplate, installed the starter, and bolted the inspection cover in place.
I bought a larger trans cooler with -6 fittings and ran -6 braided hose to the transmission. I filled the trans with fluid.
I should have everything I need now to run the main power cable. I found some 1/0 gauge wire at my local welding supply shop. Will this be heavy enough?

The car looks fantastic! Whoever did the exhaust work did an amazing job of packaging everything up there. Very impressive. Do you have a side photo showing the ground clearance of the exhaust?

Thanks. I'm very happy with how it turned out. I forgot to get a shot of it when it was on the ground. It's got more ground clearance than it has ever had. I plan to take a few pictures next time it's off the jack stands.

Re: Prostreet Camaro Project
I finally got to start it this week! I had a fuel leak that I fought with, but finally figured out it was the fuel pump. It is a brand new Holley HP 150 fuel pump. I had a leak that would come and go, but it didn't seem like it was coming from the fittings. After I removed the pump (and made a mess) I found the three bolts that hold the pump together were loose! Using loctight I torqued them to 60 in. lbs. then reinstalled the pump. That fixed it!
I jacked it up, removed the jack stands, and set it down on it's wheels. I started it up and backed it out of the garage to do some cleaning. I had the wife take some video of it too.

I finished another project this weekend. I rerouted the wiring for the blower motor, and relocated the resistor thing. It was a fun, easy project. I think it turned out pretty good.

I really like the way you have the heater hoses, that really keeps it clean, and out of the way so you can actually work on the motor.

Re: Prostreet Camaro Project
Heater hoses were always a pain. I used to have them on top of the engine. That didn't look so good.
I cut the barbed ends off of the heater core and soldered on copper 1/2" NPT female fittings I got from the hardware store. I bought two stainless elbows and threaded them into the new fittings on the heater core. That allowed me to run heater hoses straight down behind the engine instead of on top of the intake. I think it looks much better now.

Re: Prostreet Camaro Project
Not much new to report. I reassembled the front clip back on.
I had to install a MSD start/retard box. I had some trouble with kick-back. No problems anymore.
Looking for a body shop now.

The coilovers are strange engineering, single adjustable. Not sure on the rate.
I can measure the frame and links when I get home from work.

Re: Prostreet Camaro Project
I got home late... I managed to measure the frame. The outside to outside is 24" and inside to Inside is 20 1/2". (1 3/4" round tube)
I looked under the rear and I saw "125" marked on the coilover spring.
I will have to jack up the car and get under it to measure the links.

Links are 17 1/4" long. This is the length of the tube with the ends welded in.

Re: Prostreet Camaro Project
After calling many body shops (20+), I found a shop. Most shops only want to deal with collision work. I found a place that does early Mustang restorations. I almost didn't even bother to call. Finally, I did. It turns out that they will work on just about anything. The owners came and looked my car over and gave me a quote.
Here we are a week later and the Camaro is on its way to the shop. Should be done in a month or so!

I hope to bring my car home this weekend. Here is the latest picture.
I worked on the console last night. Fixed a few cracks and striped holes. Not sure if I want to have a radio or not.

Re: Prostreet Camaro Project
Brought the Camaro home yesterday. Looks great!
I started cleaning the door panels and trim. I need to replace the door weatherstrip and the front nose emblem.
I asked the body shop to shave the antenna. I think I'm going to buy a radio delete plate. I used to have a Pioneer stereo, but I never really listened to it.

Thanks for the compliments.
I placed and order from Hawks. I bought the door weatherstrip kit and a few other things. I bought some sound deadener from Summit too. I plan to put some inside the door before the door panels go back on.

All the weatherstriping is done. The hushmat made a big difference in the doors. I layed some on the roof skin also.

Re: Prostreet Camaro Project
Thanks!
I reinstalled the interior. It's not done but good enough for now. I need to take some pictures.
I hauled it back to the chassis shop to get the 4-link setup on Monday. On Tuesday I drove it for the first time. Drives great. It was hot outside and traffic was bad but I made it home. Only problem I had was the rear brakes. I need to order a residual valve. I had to pump brake pedal twice to get a firm pedal.
This weekend I drove it to the "Salem Super Cruize". Had a great time. It idles great in traffic. Still very streetable. I got a lot of thumbs up's too!

Re: Prostreet Camaro Project
The stock hose had too many bends. I used this tube and cut sections out of original hose to use as elbows. I guess it was just for looks.
The tube is aluminum. I recycled it from an old patio umbrella pole! Has been working great for years.
