Edlebrock STB with J&M mounts

I have the older style J&M strut mounts:

Does anyone know if they'll fit with the Edlebrock 3point STB? Thanks in Advance!

I had an Edelbrock 3-pt STC on my car & I see nothing about you mounts that would cause one not to fit.

Looks like it sits straight up, not forward any.

No fitment problems. Installed the STB with the stock strut mounts in place, and they were fine with these.

Not happy with the strut mounts anymore though.. snapped a stud off after adjusting camber, and I wasn't even torqing it obscenely. The newer version really is a better design than these; gotta hate impulse buys..

Re: Edlebrock STB with J&M mounts

Thanks guys! Looks like everything will work out when I buy the STB.

Yeah, I agree. I don't really like this design much either when compared to the new onw. I'll probably replace these at some point. They don't clear my SS hood and I had to make a small hole so that they would.

I have the new style of mounts on my IROC-Z and I also have the Edelbrock STB #5227 and it fits without issues. I haven't been able to install it but I held it in place it it looks good.

If you already cut a hole in your hood, why not keep the strut mounts until they are crap?

Re: Edlebrock STB with J&M mounts

Thanks for the info about the new style. I wish they'd had them when I got my KONIs and the mounts. I was going to get the Spohn but wanted to save the money on the J&M. Didn't know they wouldn't clear.
Be cause they still don't clear them completely. They rub a little at the corners of the hole. I've had it alligned about 4 times since I got the KONIs and it does it every time lol. It's annoying especially in winter. I probably won't replace them til I get the LS1/T56 in. No need to spend the money yet.

Re: Edlebrock STB with J&M mounts

I have the new style and had to clearance the bracket for the STB ever so slightly. It fits, but it was close. I had J&Ms first style strut mounts but had a problem with it hitting the hood. They swapped em out for the new design, which is much better.

Re: Edlebrock STB with J&M mounts

How did you get them to swap them out? Did you have to pay the difference or something?

Re: Edlebrock STB with J&M mounts

They handled all the shipping and there was no out of pocket costs to me. The problem I had was the mounts were hitting my hood causing it to not close completly. It would latch but would sit up above the fenders in that area. On to of it then end of the raised plate tore my brand new hood liner. I sent them an email about it, included pictures of the hood and how it damaged my insulation. The told me to send them back and they would swap my bearings into their new design. Only problem was it took them 3 weeks to return them to me. I think the 3 weeks was a lil excessive considering how easy it is to swap the bearings, needless to say I wasnt too thrilled about that. Im not sure if they would do this for someone else without that person having an issue like I did. Maybe they could sell you the new design minus the bearings.

Re: Edlebrock STB with J&M mounts

I had to cut small holes in the hood at the upper corners of the mounts to even get the hood to shut. But, like you said, they may send me the mounts without the bearings which would save me some money. I hope they will at least. Thanks for the info. I'll give them a call.
