Re: skinniest tire on stock wheel
Just run stock fronts at about 40-45psi. The weight difference of a 225 is too minimal to warrant the possible problems. Just jack the air up when at the track so that the rolling resistance is less(will be less contact area due to the over inflation).
Save the tire money and get proper wheels & tires.

Re: skinniest tire on stock wheel
youre just going to end up spending more money.. just stick with what you got for now.. i race with 16x8 s10 extreme wheels with 245/45-16 tires on front.. both of my slicks together are lighter than one of those.. i could have gotten 225/55-16's for the front but the sizing and weight is soo negligible its not worth it.. i can rotate my tires too..
