Riken Raptor tires
Just curious if anyone runs these and if so what is your experience with them?
I just ordered a set for my TA on new rims. Most reviews on them said they were excellent for the price.
Your thoughts???

Re: Riken Raptor tires
I've been running the raptors for about a year now (245/50/16). They seem to do pretty well as far as gripping while accelerating and cornering, and are a very quiet tire. They also wear pretty even and the tread life is good. However they feel like slicks when driving in rain (hydroplane like crazy) and once I got caught in snow
For the price, look, and summer performance I would buy these again.

I'm leaning towards getting them. The 17" tire has the same specs as the Nitto 555's (but that doesn't mean its the same tire.) Ripen Raptor 17" tire is "AA" traction, i think 16" is "A" traction. My brother has the tire for a 16" rim on his 95 Trans Am and likes them. I've also read good reviews on them.

Re: Riken Raptor tires
For my 89 TA I ordered 17" 245s for the front and 275s on the rear along with my new wheels (17x9.5 front/17x11 rear ZR1s). Apparently they came in yesterday (I am on the road, in another country) and my wife sent me a photo. They look GREAT, but thought I would get other input on how they actually performed.
Thanks for the input and please if anyone else has any experience please post it here!!!

im sure the nitto and the riken have different treadwear ratings and that will determine alot of how long its gonna wear (pending your vehicle has no issues and you take care of them rotating and such).
the riken is nice for a cheaper tire.

Re: Riken Raptor tires
Same treadwear ratings, 300.
Nitto 555 and even the 555R in the 275/40/17 only have "A" traction rating. Riken Raptor 275/40/17 has "AA" traction. The R.R. is obviously not a drag radial though like the 555R. I don't know what the A and AA ratings are based on though.
Summit's specs:
Nitto 555 275/40/17:
