any one running Sumitomo HTRZ 245/50ZR16
Is any one running Sumitomo HTRZ 245/50ZR16 tires?
I was wondering if you liked them compared to other tires you might have run. Also has anyone run them for drag strip or at an autoXing?
I was just looking to get a feel for them its hard to argue with the cheat price.

Re: any one running Sumitomo HTRZ 245/50ZR16
i'm running sumitomo htrz's 245-45-17 275-40-18.
there is an amazing difference in grip vs stock (economy) tires. i don't imagine they'll hold up against something like nitto nt555's but they are great for the price. the only setback is the cheesy looking tread pattern. i've put about 2000 miles on mine and they still have lots of tread. while cornering under braking there is still the looming understeer, but i think that's more to do with the suspension geometry than the tires.

I've had these in the 245/50ZR16 size before and I'll never have them again. They started good but became very noisy after only a few thousand miles and after about 18-19000 miles a chord(sp?) seperated in one causing a severe vibration at 50mph. Went back to BFGoodrich and haven't been disappointed.

I have sumitomo on my car in the 275 40 17 size not sure of the model tire but I'm not happy with the traction or lack there of. But the price was right and there not bad for toying around on the street witch is all I do anyway.

The BFGoodrich g-Force Sport? 245/50ZR16?

good luck finding anything wide enough in a 16" tire worth a damn. How many street miles are you going to see?

I'm just trying to find an all around street tire.
That would be fare at both for drag strip or at autoXing
I'm not looking for R compounds or drag radials because my 10 bolt will snap
I do about 50% highway driving

As far as I know, the g-Force Sport is still available. I had them on my 16s and now my 17s. Not the best tire in the world, but pretty good for the money I think.
